Meet Joe Pometto: The COO Who Builds Companies by Uplifting Staff

Your company needs the best NetSuite service possible. The new SuiteDynamics COO believes it will come from his motivated and well-supported staff.

Joe Pometto wants to figure out people. He wants to know who they are, what they’re good at, and how he can help them win.

“What I'm really passionate about and what I'm really good at is being the integrator,” he says. “And the integrator is that person who says, ‘All right, this is where you want to go; how do we do it? What needs to happen to actually put the business in a place where it can achieve [our goals]?’”

That’s part of the reason Joe joined the SuiteDynamics team in December as our new Chief Operating Officer. He’s eager to help the company reach its potential and offer even better, more comprehensive service.

A Career Built on Guiding and Encouraging Others

The new COO chats about his move to SuiteDynamics via Zoom. He’s wearing a hooded sweater and flat bill cap, looking more like a guest at a weekend barbecue than a veteran C-level executive. The clothing choice reflects Joe’s down-to-earth management approach, which involves integrating with the team and steering from within. He feels passionate about finding and molding raw potential.

Joe says that drive is part of his entrepreneurial nature and has fueled a long history of business development. In 2007, he earned a business degree from Iowa State University and then spent the first years of his finance career operating a Modern Woodmen of America firm in his hometown of Boone, Iowa. His leadership skills and drive eventually earned him a promotion to regional director and relocation to Madison, Wis.

Since then, he has held various positions in the business world, including director of organizational development, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer.

In addition to Modern Woodmen of America, he has worked for Lift Consulting, LLC; Wenger Construction, Inc.; and Anchor Group NetSuite Consultants and Developers. He has even established the Community Resource Network, a collection of organizations and individuals serving the special needs community.

Joe felt drawn to SuiteDynamics leadership because he admired the honest way founder Jake Kleiner runs this company. He views Jake as an excellent collaborator and partner and has been eager to become part of the business Jake has built.

“That was really key,” Joe explains. ”I wanted to know that I could join a great team with the support of Jake and others so I could step in and do big things for the organization, too.”

The “big things” Joe wants to accomplish include maximizing the company with a three-pronged strategy. It involves:

1.     Encouraging and developing SuiteDynamics employees.

2.     Understanding the company and how it works best.

3.     Evaluating business operations for potential improvement.

The goal, Joe says, is to create a seamless, effective business. He also wants to help empower client-facing staff to produce world-class service.

“My job is to give those people everything they need to be successful and to be optimized,” He explains. “And if I've done that and people are really cruising, then I'll know that the work I've done has succeeded.”

A Company Vision Based on Team Strengths

Joe has only been SuiteDynamics’ COO for a few weeks but has already conducted one-on-one interviews with nearly every staff member, getting to know the team and building rapport. He has also examined each department to identify its purpose and determine where it might need more significant support. Overall, he wants to find new ways to push our company toward operational excellence.

The new executive believes his efforts will encourage team members to become emerging leaders in the NetSuite world, which will, in turn, spur company growth and success.

“There's so much opportunity in this business, in the NetSuite space,” he says. “There's no reason we can't grow to a hundred-plus people in the NetSuite ecosystem. But what that will require is growing people in our organization to take on new responsibilities, new leadership opportunities, and building teams around those key employees who are ready for that next step.”

He expects the company to grow quickly because of the team’s raw talent and desire to learn. Joe says every person on staff possesses a “hungry mindset” that speaks to their company loyalty and determination to help SuiteDynamics succeed. He has also noted that the team embraces positive change and finds that a rare but essential quality for a successful business.

The COO doesn’t know where these talents will take the company in the next five-to-10 years, but he’s sure employee skill and aspiration will guide that journey.

“I tend to think that 90% of the inspiration around what to do and where to focus … will come from the team,” Joe says. “I’ll help drive that by getting to know them and understanding what obstacles they're currently facing.”

Yet, he does feel confident enough to make one prediction.

After meeting the team members, discovering their strengths and desires, and examining company operations, Joe believes 2024 will be the best year yet for SuiteDynamics and its clients.
